Sid is the founder and principal of Business WordSmiths (clever name, don’t you think?) His background isn’t what you might consider a common one for a writer. With his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a minor in computer science, Sid broke into the computer field long before anyone had ever heard the term “geek.” Amazingly, he landed his first job because of his writing skills, and not his limited knowledge of the COBOL programming language. His new boss said: “I loved your cover letter so much, I never even looked at your resume.” Thank goodness for that!
Sid moved from computer job to computer job, mostly working as a consultant, before settling into a fascinating career with Hewlett-Packard as a field consultant. It was here he first found the pleasure of writing, starting up a special newsletter and winning many multi-million dollar proposals because of his knack for writing copy.
In spite of all the clues the universe provided, Sid ignored them and continued with the computer field far too long. Then, one day he woke up and realized he was on the wrong path.
He thought, “I must do what I was really meant to do. I’ll go get a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology!”
Um…. Even after one professor said somewhat jokingly, “You really should become a writer. Give up this counseling idea,” Sid persevered, earning his MA in slightly less than three years while still working full time at HP.
Not one to do what makes sense, Sid became a personal and business coach because it seemed like the right thing to do with an MA in Counseling/Psychology. He’d studied the works of Carl Jung enough to understand that there were greater forces at work than he understood at the time.
It wasn’t until he’d failed as a coach that a mentor said, “Well, what else are you good at?”
Eureka! “Writing!”
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Sid brings all his enthusiasm, passion, experience, and humor to his work as a writer. His diverse background gives him the unique ability to quickly find shortcuts and systems for doing whatever is necessary to get the job done – including and especially self-publishing and marketing books through technology.
Sid now has his own small publishing firm, Infinity Press, a subsidiary of Business WordSmiths, Inc. For additional information about Sid, the services of Business WordSmiths, and self-publishing, please contact him through this web site.
