You know that feeling you get when you have a secret that you’re not sure if you should tell anyone, but no one tells you that you can’t, and every minute of the day you become more and more afraid of what once made you feel safe, and peaceful? That’s the feeling that took me over. The feeling that stalks me, and haunts me in my sleep.
I’m not sure what is happening, but something isn’t right. Something out in the woods is trying to find me, or someone. Every time I close my eyes I feel like I can’t open them, because if I do I won’t be home. It’s dumb to run away, but I think it’s the best thing to do to protect everyone I care about.



“Well, Montana will be a new experience,” my father said coldly, “But I will defiantly miss you,” he said warmly while walking over to me. He wrapped his arms around me, and whispered, “I love you, promise to come visit me?”
“I promise,” I said back.
“Well good. I should probably get your stuff in the car,” he pointed out.
I smiled. I turned and walked in the opposite direction into a sunlit hallway. I came up to my empty room where Mason was trying to remove my mirror from my closet door.
“Azalea, can I ask you a question?” he asked, pulling the last nail out of the mirror.
“Sure, anything Mase.”
“Are you leaving because of what I saw in the woods?” he asked, I felt him put his hand on my shoulder, “I would understand. I just want to know the truth, and I want to know why I can do.”
I didn’t say anything. And it was a long moment before I simply nodded.
He wrapped his arms fully around me, pulling me closer and closer every second, “You know? I’m really gonna miss you Aza,” he pulled away, and kissed me on the cheek, “Best friends forever,” he promised.
“You know, you can’t forget Johnny and you can’t forget Leah either. It’s gonna be weird finding a new circle of friends to hang out with,” I said grabbing his hands.
“Oh, but I thought I was the favorite,” he joked, “So, this is it,” he turned serious again.
