Prologue

At first, it was confusing. It felt like a miracle, or perhaps she was dreaming. She missed how they smiled and held her hand, reassuring her that she wouldn't be lost in the crowd, longing for their warm embrace. She never meant to hurt them; she thought she was doing the right thing, fixing what was supposed to be there, in this familiar yet unfamiliar pce.

  Then it happened again.

This time, it was a mirror of herself, her life, but a happy one. They were a happy family, but she couldn't help feeling jealous. She still had her loving brother, but 'she' didn't. Even with him by her side, something still felt missing. This was supposed to be her life. No, 'she' was a good girl, and she wasn't—maybe that's why they took them.

She was a bad girl, and that's why she was having this dream—to make her suffer.
