You can ignore this if you didn’t read the new chapters of book 1.
Thanks for the feedback for those who did.
I’ve deleted the previous announcement because it’s now redundant but I still have the feedback.
The reason I put the chapters up was so that I could get feedback and improve the story.
Editing is a lot of work, and I wish I didn’t have to edit the beginning of book 1.
Unfortunately, the litrpg aspects and the cultivation system in the early chapters are completely different to the rest of book 1 so I can’t just keep it like that.
I spent all day yesterday and today morning making edits based on the feedback you all gave.
The latest version keeps the characters the same as original.
Main changes are the Entrance Exam and no litrpg features except for what Azure creates to help make life easier for Ke Yin.
Here is a list of changes made so you don’t have to reread the chapters again.
But first I just wanted to clear up some confusion.
I’ve noticed that some readers believe that Ke Yin only began world walking after getting the Genesis Seed. But in the original, Ke Yin world walked to the Two Sun’s World twice before he picked his cultivation method – the world tree sutra on chapter 24.
There has been no big change in the world tree sutra, here are the differences
- I went into more detail for the formation of the Genesis Seed but the process is the same 5 steps
- The final step of recognition is the only change I’ve actually made, this is where ke yin uses the red sun energy to complete the formation as ke yin believes that otherworldy energy is required to form it
- I also mentioned what you all already know by now which is that after gathering the essence required, ke yin will have to find his own forward, at least until he can recover more parts of the sutra for OP techniques
Also someone mentioned the red sun effects have changed, I don’t understand what they mean by that, the Two Suns visit is more or less the same, I’ve not changed anything about the red sun except ke yin using it to form genesis seed.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The main issue that popped up for the new version is the personality of the characters.
So, I went back and did some edits.
Character edits
- I’ve gone through chapters and added more genre awareness comments from ke yin, making him more like his paranoid self
- I’ve rewritten Wei Lin so he’s back to being the merchant kid who’s trying to sell Ke Yin and Lin Mei techniques
- Lin Mei introduction has gone back to the original, he meets her the exact same way in the herb class in chapter 7 (previously chapter 5 we met her). The only new addition to that scene is we see Wei Lin and Lin Mei meet for first time and him trying to sell her herbs
- Added back in Azure’s banter with Ke Yin
Chapter 3
- You guys commented that the previous introduction of Lin Mei’s character was better so I changed chapter 3 so Ke Yin meets Su Yan (who ends up failing) instead of Lin Mei
- Added Senior Sister Liu using her spiritual aura to test the disciples and weed out the weak before getting to the entrance exam
- This new entrance exam of awakening the inner world makes more sense since cultivation is all about the inner world
Chapter 4
- Added cost of Void leaf
- Ke Yin awakens inner world
Chapter 5
- Changed Ke Yin’s mma background to something that can’t be called a background e.g. now 6 weeks of training years ago, and he mentions that is something he’s not talented at
- Added Ke Yin being paranoid about azure seeing his memories
Chapter 6
- Wei Lin tries to sell Ke Yin a technique on how to hide aura
- Ke Yin doesn’t fall for it and figures it out with Azure’s help
Chapter 7
- More or less same as the original chapter 5 where we meet Lin Mei and Ke Yin needs to earn spirit stones
- We’re also told about the monthly evaluation.
Chapter 8
- Ke Yin doesn’t like sparring and would rather be safe collecting herbs and earning contribution points.
The rest of the edits in the later chapters were just making sure Wei Lin’s character was right and adding Azure’s comments to Ke Yin’s paranoia.
I’ll add a scene for outer disciple evaluations later this week.
Anyways, that’s all from me.
I think this version is now more similar to original, just without the optimisation via the System.
I don’t expect you guys to reread it again, just thought I’d let you know that I listened to the constructive feedback that I agreed with.
And I know some of you will still prefer the original version, that’s fine too.
I just hope this one makes sense and is true to the main characters’ personalities.
