Noel took a while to recover from the pain of the healing. After he could keep his bearings he notified Milagros about the results and they kept going with their day.

  Given that Emilio wanted to know his real limit on the Soul Contract Skill, they had organized for him to sign contracts with 10 important partners with whom Milagros wanted to verify they would not break the contracts. If that was not enough for his limit, then he would keep making pointless contracts with Noel until he felt he reached his limit.

  The process for the contract signing was quite boring. First Noel would introduce the methodology to the other party, usually an important person in his own stand. Then he would introduce Emilio as the contract giver. Sign the same four contracts that Noel had signed, break the one that prohibits lying and lastly they would leave to give the place for the next person.

  Emilio added to the contracts the information about who the other person was, including name and why they were important. He did this because he realized that sooner or later he would not be able to remember all of the people he signed contracts with, and this method allowed him to understand it just from the contract.

  This very first series of signatures also had a few extra people that Milagros added to help him understand the Skill. They received an extra contract that was meant to be broken. Milagros wanted them to travel all over the world and break them to understand if it worked and how long it took for the information to reach him.

  There was also an extra one who was supposed to be broken inside the Trial, the next Thursday.

  Those 4 people were the very last of the tests before he started receiving some of the real important people. The first to arrive was actually a Polifood director. Being the place where Nicole worked, they were one of the few who had early access to the information Emilio had. They had signed special contracts, ensuring to keep his family’s information confidential.

  The director was really eager to meet Emilio and wanted to get more information out of him, knowing he was the actual source of KimTec prosperity. Luckily, he had no idea about Amelia’s Stats, given that he didn’t say a word about her. Emilio silently gave a thumbs up to Nicole for not talking about her daughter. The less people know, the better for the girl.

  Emilio didn’t give the director the time he wanted because he was already exhausted. He realized that every contract he signed he was getting more and more tired. For the next two people he met, he didn’t even process who they were. He just signed the contracts and kept going to the next one.

  By the time the 4th person from outside the company entered the room with Emilio, he was not able to really process who he was anymore. He was seeing blurry and kept himself going only to verify his real limit. When he tried to sign the first contract he realized that he was not able to do it.

  There was only one thing that came to his mind and it was the he had to activate the active part of the Mind Limit Unshackled Trait to go beyond his limits. That was the only way to sign another contract, but he didn’t have a need to do it and he didn’t want to have any ‘adverse effects’, so he refused to use it.

  The moment he refused, he passed out cold into the table.

  Noel, who was with him all the time, and watched him become paler with every contract, approached the minister who was on the other side of the table to apologize.

  Yes, the person who Emilio was unable to identify because of his tiredness was not an executive of some company. He was a government Minister that was in charge of the deals that the country had with KimTec. Given the importance of the information, the government was forced to enter several contracts with the company, and Emilio’s soul contract was about to be enforced with them.

  “I’m sorry minister. This is the first day that we are using this method and we are still testing the limits of the Soul Contract. It apparently strains him more than we expected. Could we bother you to come back later? I don’t think he will be able to perform a contract anytime soon.”

  “Don’t worry. I can see he was way over exhausted and he passed out in front of me. I hope you don’t treat him like this regularly or we might be offering him a better deal than what you give him and have him work for us instead.”

  “Good luck with that,” Noel chuckled, “He was with us for almost decade and I don’t think he ever thought about leaving.”

  “If you keep exhausting him like this, I don’t think he will stay here much longer. Would you stay if you have to work until you are unconscious?”

  “Have to? He asked for it! He wanted to know his limit. If not, we would have scheduled you and the other people who were supposed to come after you for another day. I guess we calculated wrongly the amount of contracts he can sign.”

  “If you say so…In any case, if he stays with you, I hope you might lend us a hand with his contracts in some specific cases. Having assurance is priceless. Do you know if he can do it just as an intermediary?”

  “No, he can’t. Why do you think there is not another executive at the table?”

  “He might not be far from that position with this Skill. Just the ability to work as a lie detector is priceless as long as he is not corrupt.”

  Noel was offended by that comment “I would advise you to watch what you say, I’ve worked with him for years and he has never done anything like that.”

  “I hope it is true. I will wait for your call and finally have one of these Soul Contracts.” With that comment, the minister left the room and left Noel with the need to take care of an unconscious Emilio, together with turning off a bunch of executives that came to sign a contract.
