The adventurers’ guild is where like-minded individuals who long for adventure gather. They take on requests from the guild and make a living doing favors for others. And when they’re done, the rowdy bunch like to head to the nearest tavern to kick back and get drunk.
That’s the kind of place Sarasa took us.
“Hey hey! Did you know something interesting I noticed?” We were sitting at a table on the corner of a boisterous tavern. The occasional idiot singing could be heard amidst the noise, as well as the sounds of shouting and fists and cups slamming on tables.
Sarasa was no stranger to this environment as she suddenly slammed her hands on the table. She had a story to tell, or something, and she demanded our attention. “So I’ve been away for a while, right?”
Surprisingly, our group fits here quite well… The clothes Carol and I wear are a bit different. But if there are people in this world who can outdo us in that regard, it’s adventurers. With weapons by our waists and an alchemist in the group, we look just like the average adventurer party. A bit cuter, perhaps? I’m just biased towards my adorable girls.
“Yeah? I guess… We didn’t see you for a while.” I answered Sarasa, and she nodded, pleased with herself.
“I had to go home and stuff. I already told you all that, but now that I’m back, I noticed something very funny.” She leaned over to the side and grabbed Ririna’s shoulders as if presenting her to us. “For some reason, our little Ririna here has changed a lot in that short amount of time.”
Ririna has changed? Carol had a blank look on her face. She hasn’t known Ririna for too long, so she couldn’t say. I didn’t know what she meant, and Ririna herself was also at a loss.
“I’ve changed?” She looked over her shoulder. “I didn’t really notice. What do you mean?”
Sarasa nodded with a smug grin before whispering with a naughty tone. “You’re much prettier now. Don’t tell anyone, but I think she’s in love! Isn’t that cute?”
Chaos quickly spread at the table. All our shoulders jumped at her words. How did she find out? Did Ririna…
“N- no! What are you saying, Sarasa?!” She pushed Sarasa away before turning my way. “I didn’t tell her anything. We didn’t even talk about anything like that. She’s just making that up!”
“That’s right.” Sarasa didn’t even try to deny it. “I was just guessing, but you know, I think I’m pretty perceptive. For example, I noticed the one you explained yourself to was Iroha. Does that mean she’s… Ah!” She covered her mouth with an exaggerated gesture. “No way! Iroha’s the one? Does that mean the two of you are already a thing?!” This chick knows exactly what she’s doing.
“Cut it out!” Carol jumped to Ririna’s defense. “If she wants to keep a secret, that’s her right. If you’re her friend, you shouldn’t probe into it.”
“What? You didn’t notice?” Sarasa grinned. “Sorry, it’s a shame the person you like is already taken, isn’t it? But don’t worry, if Iroha doesn’t want you, I don’t mind taking you instead.”
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Who said Iroha doesn’t want me? I’ll have you know things are great between us!” Carol then suddenly froze, realizing what she had just said.
“Oh? That’s so good! That’s great to hear!” Sarasa said very sarcastically. “But wait… Does that mean both you and Ririna… Are you both dating Iroha?”
She is perceptive… Guuuuuuh… Getting exposed like this is pretty embarrassing. The three of us blushed in silence.
“No need to be embarrassed. I think it’s pretty cool. How far have you gone? Have you three kissed?” She remembered a possibility that made even her blush. “Have you… done it yet?”
“Co- come on, Sarasa…. Ahahaha… That’s personal! You shouldn’t ask that…” Ririna was the first one to crack and hit her shoulder while blushing.
“I- it’s not even like that, you idiot! You’re just making up things on your own! I’m done.” Carol looked away from Sarasa while crossing her arms.
“*Sigh…* Guess we can’t hide it anymore…” I can feel my face burning. Carol and Ririna sighed along with me after realizing it was too late to salvage this. “You’re right… The two of them… Carol and Ririna… they’re… They’re mine now.” Exposed or not, I’m happy being able to say that. “Is that what you wanted to hear? What was the point of all this?”
Sarasa’s playful attitude turned into surprise for the first time this evening. She wasn’t expecting me to face things head-on, and she wasn’t expecting the other two to quietly agree.
Did she really find all this out just by hanging out with us for a while? Just from seeing our dynamic? I didn’t think we hid it that poorly.
“What’s the point? You ask. Isn’t it obvious?” Sarasa closed her eyes and sat up properly to create suspense. She was considerate enough to pick a place so loud that no one could hear our conversation. But now her silence is so intense that all other noise faded completely. “I want in.” She plainly said as she opened her eyes.
She looked me in the eyes with a resolute look on her face. My heart rate spiked.
“Hah?!” Carol leaned forward. “A- are you serious?” Said Ririna right after, confused by Sarasa. She ignored both of them and fixed her gaze on me, disarming them completely.
“Uhmm… Why?” Did I even do anything to make her like me? Don’t tell me she also has a thing for my specific shade of blonde…
“Why else?” She smiled even while keeping a serious tone. “It sounds fun.”
It sounds fun? None of us knew how to respond. “That's it?” Does that mean she likes me, or…? What am I supposed to say? “Is that enough for you? Do you actually like me?”
“Sure do. I wouldn't want to date someone I don't like.” She shrugged. “The only reason I'm saying this is because I know you, and I know that you're a fun person to be around. In other words, you're my type. And you also have an interesting thing going on. I wanna see where it goes.”
I guess that means I'm special to her in a certain kind of way. Makes me happy to hear somehow… “But is that enough? I'm glad you think it's fun to be with me. All things considered, I also have fun with you. But can you be happy like that? Is that enough for a relationship? Is fun all that matters to you?”
To that, Sarasa leaned back with a serene look on her face. “Yeah… You know, I'm quite the reckless one, right?” She showed an embarrassed smile. “I have confidence in my abilities, and I trust my instincts. When it's time to do something, I don't hesitate and just go for it. It has worked so far, but it may well be my downfall one day.”
“I don't know when something's gonna happen to me one day, so while I'm alive, I like to live life to the fullest.”
It was a simple yet powerful reasoning. When faced with that, not even Carol could come up with a retort.
“A- alright… I accept your feelings, but I have one condition.” Sarasa leaned forward and paid close attention. The other two were a bit confused. Stop playing games. It's obvious that you like her back. I could almost hear them say that.
“I'm not interested in heartbreaks, so if we start dating, you have to take care of yourself. You're not allowed to get seriously hurt or die. That's my condition if you wanna join.” Sarasa was surprised, and so were the other two.
“Ahahahahahahahaha! That's fine… I promise. I don't really have control over it, but I'll try.” She let out a pleasant sigh before composing herself. She got up from her seat, walked around the table, and sat on my lap. Suddenly, we were the center of attention. “This is exactly what I like about you.”
What? That I care about my girls and their well-being? That's not what she was saying earlier.
Sarasa grabbed the collar of my dress, and the other two gasped. Surely, she's not gonna…
*Kiss~* The next moment, the tavern filled with cheers and whistles. Most from men who liked seeing girl-on-girl action. “Are we a thing now? Or do I have to do something else first? Taking it to the next step sounds fun.” She grinned seductively. Her voice was kinda quiet but loud enough for the nearest adventurers to pick up on it. An even louder cheer spread through the tavern.
“That's enough! You don't need anything else.” Ririna grabbed Sarasa’s shoulder and pried her off my lap.
“You can't do this in public…” Carol mumbled. “You're such an idiot, embarrassing us like this.” She pulled me up by the arm while Ririna pushed Sarasa from behind, trying to leave as soon as possible.
They left the money on the table and escorted us before we got crowded. It's like we're celebrities trying to make it through a group of fans. I look behind at Sarasa while Carol's pulling me and see her waving with a smile on her face.
Well… She definitely looks cute when she's having fun.
