Entry 3: Carnival

There is a wandering star travelling far and wide. It came down to me one night as I was drifting to sleep. It was a shimmering form of energy bundled up together like a collection of snakes. It coiled around itself over and over once more, twisting in ways I don't think should have been possible. An air of mist surrounded it, reflecting the light it shed off itself in various directions.

"I feed upon radio waves and rain; I am a dragon by name Tower." It said.

I remember a paralysis flowing over my entire body, like the pins-and-needles feeling when your hand falls asleep. All I could do is shift my head over to face it head on. I try to respond, to say anything at all, yet my tongue feels cold in my mouth. Nothing comes out- I'm dead.

"I am starving." Its voice was soft like a whisper.

"Aren't we all? I'd let you eat me, though I am rotted flesh and splintering bone." I respond, blood now starting to flow through my body once more. I shift my body upright against the wall of the trench.

"You are slipping further and further down the hall. Why don't you stick your hands out to slow your descent?"

"I don't think I deserve to do so. Do I?" As I continue to look at the dragon, I can't help but sigh in contempt. "Am I dying, dear friend? Are you here to take my hand and lead me away?"

It continues to float there above the ground, pulsing with different colors. "I am not your religious figure, nor your ferryman. Condolences given, I cannot help you in that sense." My hand raises weakly towards it yet falls back down to my side. A smile spreads across my face, unable to control myself at the sight of my own incompetence.

"I placed that point of view on you prematurely. It is I who should apologize. There is little I can do for you either. I think I am dying, dear friend. Would you stay with me? Is it not such shame to leave with nobody waving goodbye?"

"If you do not wish to leave the party so early, all you have to do is find a foothold and stand up straight. No-mans-land claims only those that allow it to do so."

A pained groan escapes my lips, my feet shifting along the dirt as I begin to stand. I lean against the nearby wall to support my stand.

"Why me?" It does not reply because it is gone. The daytime turns to night, the night to day. I stood there, motionless for what felt like hours, fighting off the soft hands pulling the back of my coat.
