Cleaning House Pt.3

An older Geckonese gentleman just shy of being an elder climbed on stage, through the process of elimination I figured he was Vjeck. He was followed by two female Geckonese one who looked to be older then Praven yet younger then Vjeck, and the other was older then Vjeck but younger then Gonior.

Then Gonior took the stage after lull mainly to let the Representatives get their recognition before he came up. As he was the one that would be coronating Praven. I stepped to the side and the newly minted Mayor took the stage.

"Hello all I am glad to be the first mayor since our freedom for Scalefolk tyranny! However even at the precipice of a new golden age we must keep our tradition but even tradition must change, it was the wish of us Elders to see what once was destroyed be restored anew! But we shan't neglect this opportunity to prefect our traditions, we will still have a King who will lead the grave men who protect us but the people's voices will not be silent instead through me and your elected representatives the day to day will be run, every ten yeargrowths of the elder root a new election will hold, even though the representatives may change the King shall be the linchpin through it all, it is now that I present the King born not above us but alongside us, may he be the gardener of our prosperity, we hail the first of his name, King Praven Rootcrown!" Gonior announced and from behind the stage Praven arose, a long knarled circular root acted as a crown all together his attire was nicer then average but not ostentatious. As the cheers went throughout the crowd and the new king waved and looked nervous as hell I saw a system notification appear in my vision.

Pretty Decent title for doing what I was going to do anyways. I waited for Praven to give his speech although I didn't pay as much attention to it as I should have he went on his plans to lead the Geckonese to a unseen golden age through the strength of unity and inter-city relations. After that their was a party at the new 'palace' which showed people that the new king wasn't living in undue luxury. Although I didn't stay as I had stuff to do so. King Praven thanked me for all I did and promised to be as good as a King as he could be and then some. I gave him some advice before leaving mainly warnings about how absolute power corrupts absolutely. Honestly, I feeling like a young merlin, making Kings and then bouncing off to the next adventure.

As I left the city I looked back at the Rootwall it's brambles and tangled wooden stalks that tied together around the city as if it were embracing it like a loving mother. Smiling for a bit I turned towards the general direction of the Monternoel and sped towards the city. The surrounding area past like a blur until a few indistinct hours had passed and I had long sense moved onto the bedrock road that acted as safe travel through the pitfalls of the eroded granite hellscape that flanked it. Until finally the city with a small section of wall that sectioned off the bedrock road from the shelf that the City of Monternoel sat upon, the form of Kasen stood at the top of the walls ramparts.

Slowing down to halt just shy of a hundred feet from the wall I saw Kasen shoulders stiffen before he recognized me.

"How have you fared Liberator in your quest for the Quetzal's head?" He asked a dash of hope in his voice.

"Successful, the Quetzal's regime has fallen and my army is there in their city keeping the peace" I explained briefly.

"GOOD! FINALLY THAT SNAKEY BASTARD GOT HIS JUST GRUB,HAHA!" Kasen bellowed in happiness the weight of worry about his future nieces and nephews thrown off. However noticing the looks from his fellow guards he calmed himself before continuing.

"This is joyous news the Elder must hear this, come inside Liberator" he said and the gates were pulled open although they were still damaged from my assault on it not to long ago.

As Kasen climbed down from the ramparts I waited and as I came I accepted clasp on my forearm that reminded me of handshake.

"I'm grateful for you, moreso then many others, for reasons you are aware of" Kasen said before releasing my forearm as he led me to the building were the Elder conducted his running of the city. Here in Monternoel, instead of Elder being a social symbol without any actual codified privileges or responsibilities as elsewhere, here it was the title denoting the current leader. Entering the Building I realized I had forgotten the Elders name.

"Elder Aegus, the Liberator has come with good news!" Kasen spoke, and I was thankful that he had stated the Elders name. What followed was a familar conversation, primarily about the fall of the Quetzal and the state of the other cities. Aegus was dismayed at learning the old royal family of the Geckonese was wiped out but had figured as much due to their distinct features and the known cruelty of the Priestesses in charge. However the City besides the brutal genocide that had occurred here of all the Monternoel with visible Scalefolk traits was otherwise intact. Which left me little to do but check in on Saer and his kiddos before going to the Scalefolk city and bouncing to Juxia from there.

"Alright, if that's all I will take my leave" I said to the Elder.

"Ahh, then go with my blessings Liberator" Elder Aegus said cheerfully before he returned to the tablets before him.

I turned and exited the building, Kasen had duties to attend to so he had ducked out during my briefing with the Elder. Luckily I remembered the way to Kasen and Saer's Ancestral House/Labyrinth.

As I climbed the steep steps I called out to Saer.

"Oight Saer, Its me Kien I wanted to check on you before I have to leave!" I cupped my hands and yelled. As I stood their and waited for an answer the Large Newtkin-like Head popped out with a wide smile.

"Perfect Timing, Their Hatching Come, Come inside!" The Excitable Monternoel Said ducking inside from the greeting window. Then soon the front door and the traps guarding it disarmed and the Monternoel stood at the other end.

"Come we must hurry!, we don't have much time!" Saer said disappearing from by doorway. Although my magic let me passively sense the earth and Is I could feel where he was running off to.

Making to sure to rearm the door before running after him, I navigated the labyrinth. Some rooms where actual traps, some doors led nowhere and the actual rooms were sprinkled all over with orderly chaos.

Eventually I came to a stop as I saw Saer huddled over a bundle of eggs several showing crack marks but none truly free. Saer smiled in lure happiness. Standing away I watched the moment. Suddenly Kasen was their too, out of breath but some how he had circumvented my ability to sense him. I woud worry about that later.

Me and Kasen watched as the first pale head poked from the egg shell. Whereas Scalefolk where a weird mix of a lizard and a snake these where more serpentine with narrow snouts. We watched as the first one quickly broke free from its egg and begun to slowly chew on its egg. It was soon followed by it sibling breaking free and following suit. After the First one finished it's first meal it went to the next egg and I to stop myself from doing something as I broke the egg of its sibling. I worried until I saw the sibling in said egg squirm out and nuzzle it's slightly elder sibling before eating its egg. The two eldest helped the rest break out before their tongues flicked out and turned towards their sire. Saer with the utmost care slowly brought his paw towards them and young pale Quetzalcoatls nuzzled their father.

Already I could feel a small measure of innate divinity less then a hundredth of a single point but their nonetheless and it was connected to me/Noble. Which meant he was watching this too no doubt. I just hoped that whatever connection they had to us that it constraint them and instead helped them grow.

Saer turned towards me and Kasen finally noticing our presence in the room.

"Do you want to meet them?" Saer asked pure fatherly joy resounded from him.
