The Lost Vampire System Chapter 13 - Dining Room Brawl
“Did he say dining room brawl?” Henry asked nervously.
The crowd started to move toward the hall. All of them moved since they didn’t want to get trampled on. That’s when they started to hear shouts and the crowd shifted more.
“What’s going on?” Keira asked.
“They’re fighting!” someone in the crowd yelled.
That’s when they could hear a loud voice in the direction in the cafeteria.
“I’m going to be one of the ones at the top, and you weaklings can have the lower floors. After all, only 150 people can be on each floor, except for the bottom floor.”
“Who you calling weak?” Another kid yelled. “Maybe after I beat you, you’ll be crying to your fat momma.”
“Who you calling fat?” The first kid yelled. “You look like an actual pig.”
The crowd parted, and just as they shifted back, Jareth could see the two kids glaring at each other. One had lightning streaking across his entire body. The other kid was beefy, but what was noticeable was the fact that his eyes glowed white and his fingertips were green.
“I feel like there is a better way to do this,” Damion commented.
“Are they really going to fight?” Jareth asked.
Just as Jareth was finished speaking, lighting shot out of the student’s hands. At the same time the other student shot a white beam of light out of his white eyes, striking at the lightning.
“They encourage this sort of behavior,” Damion said. “Trying to get the weaker of us to try and become stronger. I don’t like it.”
“What the heck!” Hannah shouted. “Let me join!” she thrusted her hand upward shooting out an earth ball smashing against the ceiling. The ceiling took no damage as small particles of dirt fell on the crowd.
Immediately the crowd began to panic.
“Screw this,” a girl yelled. “I’m taking the bottom floor. I can’t fight if I just have a healing Evolved power.” She took off hitting the button for the elevator.
“You know we could just leave.” Damion said. “It doesn’t close until midnight and we can come back to take the bottom floor after everything has calmed down.”
A beam of white light shot over their heads, hitting the wall and leaving a small mark.
The crowd started to disperse, some joining in on the action while the others went outside or was waiting for the elevator. Either way there were around a 400-student split.

Hannah rushed forward joining in on the fun. She swung her sword hitting a student on the back of the head. Axel, who was wearing his purple jean jacket rushed forward into the fray, he thrusted his hand forward trapping a student in a purple energy ball. Hudson and Hunter joined in as well. Keira stayed by Mia’s side. Madison and Emma didn’t join in the fray, staying by Jareth’s side.
“I would join,” Madison said. “Unfortunately, there are too many people stronger than me here.”
“Yeah,” Damion said ducking to avoid a little fire ball. “Let’s go.”
Jareth was about to walk out with them when his system activated.
“New quest received. Why aren’t you participating. A perfect opportunity to grow stronger. Defeat an opponent of your choosing. 25 exp will be rewarded.”
Jareth paused as he read the message.
So, you want me to participate, Jareth thought. “I’ll be able to level up once more after the exp. Fine, I’ll join in for a round.
“Instead of answering Damion, Jareth walked towards the commotion.
Damion noticed this and looked over.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
Jareth didn’t answer as he looked around the dining hall. People on each floor were trying to claim a spot. To claim a spot on a floor, you had to sit in one of the chairs there without being challenged. However, Jareth wasn’t trying to claim one of these spots. He was just trying to defeat one opponent.
Jareth looked around, and with his good eyesight, he tried to find someone with one power at a low power level. Unfortunately, most, if not all, of the people who stayed had a higher power level or more than one Evolved power. That changed when he spotted one person's Forwatch in the crowd. It said 1;2: one ability with a total power of two. As Jareth watched the student, he suddenly vanished.
Did I imagine him? Jareth thought. Just as he was about to move, the guy who had been next to that student suddenly collapsed on the ground. A moment later, the student appeared.
Invisibility, he thought moving his fingers. This could be easy.
He started to make his way toward the student. The student was trying to find the next person to knockout when he noticed Jareth.
This will be easy, the student thought, as he activated his evolved power turning invisible.
Jareth froze realizing that the student had seen him. Just then he felt a tingling feeling at the back of his head. He immediately reacted raising his arm. A smack sound was heard as he flinched.
“Minus 2 Health points,” the system announced. “HP: 13 of 15.”
The student appeared in front of Jareth, a small wooden bat pressed against Jareth’s arm, which had reddened.
The student pulled his bat away as he went invisible again. Jareth rushed forward, wildly punching the air, but there was nothing there.
“Too slow,” the student whispered to his left very quietly.
Unfortunately for the student, Jareth’s hearing had significantly improved. Jareth dashed to the left throwing out a kick but like last time he hit nothing but the air. The student appeared again with a smile on his face throwing out his leg towards his groin. Jareth could only brace himself as he prepared for a world of pain.
SLAM
“Ow,” Jareth coughed as he could feel his entire midsection tense up.
“Minus 3 Health points.”
Jareth stumbled back but the pain wasn’t as bad as he suspected. He stood still, trying to listen to his surroundings, but it was hard since the room was full of noise. That was when he barely felt a breeze on his right and quickly sidestepped to the left. The sound of air folding could be heard next to his head as Jareth threw out his right fist and felt it connect.
“Agh.”
A sound next to him was heard followed by a thud. A moment later the student appeared on the ground, his Evolved power had been deactivated. His face was all bloody from his broken nose. Jareth had won.
“Health: 10 of 15,” the system began. “Congratulations, you have defeated an opponent of your choosing. You have grown stronger, plus 25 experience points. Exp: 40 of 40. Congratulations, you have reached level 3. The user is now one step closer to reaching level 5. You have exceeded the limit for this form. You are now evolving.”
As soon as the system was done, Jareth began to feel that same intense massaging feeling as he collapsed onto the ground.
