Chapter 13: Acceptance

On a desote nd in the 5th Dimension. There resided an ancestral monster on the verge of death. It cked intelligence; however, instinctually, it wanted out of this solitude. More than anything, even if it died, it didn’t want to be alone in its st moments. Unbeknownst to the monster, its magic resonated with its desires. Thus, it began to mutate to sustain itself. The magic entered defensive mode… its cytokinesis magic passively began to enter a state called cryopreservation, to slowly recuperate. It has been in a state of cryopreservation for millions of years. But finally, almost two years ago today, its icy preservation began to thaw. Once revitalized, its eyes frantically looked around in utter confusion and fear. Thus marked phase two of its mutation, while in the process of cryopreservation, it had developed intellectual sentience. Though it cked intelligence, it developed the ability to learn. At the time, the tiny monster didn’t have anywhere to go, crawling without arms or legs to support it. It had awoken from its icy slumber too early, with just enough time to recuperate fully. but there was not enough time to fully adapt. There was a disturbance in the 3rd Dimension. The monster couldn’t decipher what was happening, but it felt the disturbance on a primal level, like it could feel a disturbing level of psma output. This disturbance in the world created a rift, causing this monster to accidentally fall through, plunging through the dimensions, nding on the 3rd dimension with a thud. The monster's eyes tried to make everything. This was akin to a nd mammal suddenly being plunged into the deep sea, it simply didn’t have the biological requirement to just survive here. The 5th dimension, also known as the extra spatial dimension, was vastly different from the 3rd dimension, which is just a spatial dimension. This suddenly felt suffocating and restrictive; it simply couldn’t move the way it was designed to.To make up for this massive setback, the magic began the process for its third phase. In an act of mutation, the monster’s body began to tear apart violently and rebuild itself. It rapidly grew bones and muscles, but that’s not all; the bones were crushed, bent. and rebuilt to give it a more humanoid form. This is a process called Half-Life. Much like radioactive decay, when a substance reaches a critical state, it begins to break down. In this case, decay doesn’t just mean deterioration— it refers to the struggle between stability and instability.

A desperate biological war to keep from falling apart right where it stood. It needed to survive in this new dimension, and if it was going to. Then, it needs the proper dimensional physiology. By the time it was done, the monster was now a terrifying hulking eight-foot-tall yeti-like monster, although its appearance was far more disturbing. Why wouldn’t it be? It wasn’t meant to be sitting here on earth after all. But since it was on a lower dimension now, and the biological state had colpsed to rebuild itself, this instantly caused the fourth phase. Its cytokinesis became absurdly stronger, capable of freezing space-time, because to evolve, it had to retain its 5th dimensional state of being. For a year and a half, the monster just lived close to civilization but also out of sight. The monster did this by not directly living in the city but just near it. And it avoided being detected by covering itself with tiny ice crystals and dangerously supercooled air. It learned so much in such a short timespan; it learned how to communicate like humans, even if its biology wouldn’t allow for this.

It learned how life on Earth functions, and it learned how nature and physics operate. In yman’s terms, its intelligence is terrifyingly superior. Despite being able to freeze everything in a mere instant, the monster didn’t want to hurt anyone unless their cause justified it. The monster just wanted to be accepted.

It developed a fascination with the concept of gender, and it observed how the female gender typically was sought after in nature, both in wild and civilized societies. Maybe if it could be a female, then it too would be accepted. However, there is actually one issue: no matter how much it mimicked them, it would never actually be human. Now, summer has rolled around. This was bad. Really bad. The monster’s biology was not suitable to handle the intense heat, and despite the immensity of its magic, its new biology became susceptible to the 5th dimensional magic. Why? To put it simply, the monster’s existence is a total paradox.

It’s 5D magic, and 3D body are technically not compatible because they’re not supposed to exist on the same level of existence. The magic operates beyond conventional space, while the body is bound to three-dimensional physics. A contradiction akin to trying to force a higher-dimensional force into a lower-dimensional container. In other words, it can’t continuously run its magic all the time to sustain itself, or else it will likely result in a total universal freeze-down, its an absolute zero annihition.

To counter this, the monster’s evolved to phase five. Its magic developed a seemingly basic new skill— passive ancestral adaptation to anything and everything- but it doesn’t stop there; it autonomously learns to neutralize threats after adaptation. It is thoroughly designed for fool-proof survival. To be able to adapt to anything just by experiencing it once or seeing the phenomena occur once, to ensure absolute survival even if the monster didn’t necessarily need to adapt to it. But this was a bad time because with the beating sun and the process of evolving, it temporarily lost its hiding function. A couple of humans were walking by, and they cowered in fear as they saw the monster. Without giving it a chance, they took out their magic guns and opened fire on the monster out of fear. The first elemental bullet pierced the monster’s flesh, causing it to stumble back. But the second bullet failed to pierce the flesh; however, the impact of the bullet still applied energy transfer, destroying the cells internally. So, the second adaptation developed a safeguard for that. The bullets were completely useless now. And instead of fighting back, the monster just fled the scene. It ran and ran as far as its legs would take it. Eventually, it would end up in an empty dark alleyway near a diner. Desperately sobbing to itself. Wishing it was human so it could be accepted. The monster wasn’t cursing at the humans’ reaction; though a bit cruel, they were also just looking for survival. The monster cried and cried into exhaustion; this was unfair. Really unfair. It didn’t even have a voice to expin itself, to tell them it didn’t want to hurt them. But would they even listen? It was a grotesque abomination that shouldn’t have existed the way it did.

  Yet it did.

Maybe if it was a human woman, it would be accepted by others. Just then, there were footsteps, this caused the monster to cower back in self-loathing. When the origin of the footsteps was revealed, it was Zero! He was walking to the diner he usually hung out at.

He noticed the monster there, out of pce, yet didn’t say anything. He just stood there silently watching it. This confused the monster; why wasn’t this human running away? He seemed indifferent to its presence even. The monster wiped its tears. Its form began to crack due to the Half-Life decay, as it hesitantly and reluctantly approached Zero out of curiosity despite the tinge of sadness. Zero casually spoke up. “What’s the matter pal? You seem a bit upset.” This did it. This human didn’t run away from it. It didn’t fear it. It didn’t even despise it. This was the emotional trigger that caused the evolution into phase six, a process called Resurrection.

The monster’s monstrous form shattered completely, revealing a female demi-human on the inside. She had bluish-purple eyes, snow-white hair, icy horns, sharp icy nails, and a rge iced-spikey tail; her mythical form was beautiful and majestic at once. She was completely naked, yet she broke down into sobbing tears once more. Not because she felt improper, but because she was acknowledged.

Zero was ever so slightly taken aback by this. “Woah, you like ying it bare, right of the bat, huh? Don’t you think you should take me out to dinner first?” Zero was amused by his own joke.

But this was a pivotal moment for the monster, who finally found her voice. “Please… I don’t want to hurt anyone. Please, please don't run away... I don't want to hurt you. I promise.” She sobbed softly.

Zero instantly recognized the significance of her request. He sighed. “I won’t run away. But tell me, what do you really want?” She just kept sobbing. “I–I–I–” She was stuttering over her sobs. “I– I just want to be accepted. It’s so lonely. I’m so alone.”

Zero understood the significance of solitude as well. Of not having anyone there for you when you need it the most. “What’s your name?”

She shook her head. “I– I don’t have one.”

Zero quickly responded. “Then your name is Z’phyr now.” He pulled her up before he gave her his thin jacket and shorts to cover up her modesty at his expense; this left him with just a tank top and boxers. He pulled her to the diner, for once offering to buy another some food instead of tricking others to give him food.

Z’phyr realized he hadn’t acknowledged her because of her new humanlike form. He saw her. Really, really saw her even in her monstrous form. He saw her for who she was, not what she was. With both conditions met, survival and acceptance. Her evolution stopped here; there was no need for a phase seven.
