Chapter 39: Number Two![Read Notes]

Berk kept smiling, staring at Maentro, who was speechless right now.

"Do you know how I am here?"

"Why are you inside the body of the mixed human?" Maentro asked, curious about why number two was not trying to control the body with the great liutenants and the powerful general.

Berk leaned forward as his eyes kept changing colors from red to black to yellow, then back to brown.

"You see! The Great Jacob, meant to be the master and the best of all Krat's, returned to himself. When one Krat got stuck inside the man of a serial killer, more joined, and one after one, we failed. After nine of us got defeated, only Jacob managed to destroy the twisted mind of that human. I, being number two, lost my murderous soul, but another soul inside my entity was still alive, quiet, but still alive. I was an empty shell, no soul, and just a shell with nothing inside, only being there because the other soul was with me, and it did not take over. Number four lost its soul completely, and the second soul within the entity took over. Jacob, being the number one Krat, controlled his entity and disappeared to Earth after the incident. Number four, escaped to Valiant, and nobody has found it today. The quiet soul and I, because we were of no use but might have any potential for the future, got sent to the Pit Of The Condemned. We rotted there for a long time, and then one day, the boy showed up. He swung like a true hero over the lava and hit the wall, and then touched us; we were only a black circle wall. The quiet soul started to shine a lot. First time I've ever seen it so active. With the boy's hand inside us and stuck there, the quiet soul got to work, revealing the family's history to me. With the blood drops of the boy's hand, I smeared the blood on the quiet soul, then everything changed. Do you know what changed?" Berk smiled even wider now.

  Maentro stared at him.

"What possible change in this tale?"

"You see, when the blood got smeared on the soul. It burned clear blue fire and then turned into a little boy."

"That is not possible! The Krat's creation is to haunt the mind of humans, not take the shape of any material that is alive."

  Berk stopped smiling.

"You are correct, but there was something different with this soul."

  "And?" Maentro's expression changed.

"You see, the soul was a baby, a baby killed three days after birth. Stolen from the family."

"WHAT IS IN YOUR MIND THAT YOU FIND IS INTERESTING WITH THIS TALE, KRAT!" Maentro yelled at Berk, who kept stalling the tale.

"The soul inside the entity was the real little brother of the boy who pushed his hand inside, and the blood of his big brother activated the quiet soul. The soul recreated itself with his brother's blood. They are real brothers."

"That is not possible!" Maentro shook its head in denial.

"It is, if the grandfather did not have a curse that moved through to the generations after him, Lark the father never got the curse, instead Berk the baby inherited it. The grandfather's name was Berk Van Polan, and with the help of his son Lark Van Polan's blood, the grandfather's apprentices brought him back to life. While you do get a chance at a second life, the curse takes away all your powers. The grandfather could no longer be a demon warrior. What is interesting is that the little boy had no powers when he came back to life. Being a baby with no knowledge, he had to relearn everything from the stages of a baby."

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"It is a fun tale, but what about all the statues here?"

"Well, when the boys escaped, this moron here went with Berk in a cave where the boy found us. While Berk was useless to us, it was his brother, Zark, who interested us, and we managed to lure him to the cave.

"Why?" Maentro suddenly asked a curious question about the 100th Demon Army.

"We were inside the body of the little boy, but his body could not carry the souls of all ten demons. Zark entered the cave, and we stole all his powers. If you lean slightly, you will see what is in front of the statues."

Maentro leaned a little bit to the side as a burning black chain appeared, covering all the statues in a cross, and pink burning threads wrapped around and inside the black chain, making it burn in two different colors. Maentro got curious about the pink one.

"What is the pink one?" Maentro asked.

"It was their mothers' inherited powers," Berk responded quickly, instead of Stella, as she grabbed her left shoulder and kept massaging it while Berk laughed at her.

"Do not look at her, she remembers the silver-haired who came in while they were more or less killing Zark, and she threw a really fast white burning sword that pierced her left shoulder. Imagine being a powerful demon and losing against a witch that wasn't even eighteen and grown up, HAHAHAHA!" Berk laughed hard as Stella went up and kicked him out of his chair.

Maentro looked confused as Stella seemed ready to start a fight with Berk.

"I do not know why we did not kill you, as Berk has absolutely no use for you. We should not have gagged you in silence, but instead just destroyed you."

"Hahaha! Take it easy, Stella. I am with my homie. He watches the latest issue of the top twelve naked calendar of the hottest Witches in the US. I watch the same. He pays with sneaky Randid money to watch naked witches WOF...ONLINE! Only 2.99 per month for Fridelia, OH My God, what a hottie.. I get free watchtime, well, Gandrael is new and has not joined in on the watching...yet!"

"YOU DAMN IDIOT EMPTY SHELL! GANDRAEL IS A HISTORIAN, NOT A TOY FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT."

  Berk stopped smiling.

"I feel offended now, Stella. The creation of the 12-month calendar is a completely new development in the history of the US office in New Hope. I mean, the few clothes they are wearing compared to the boring Paladin, where homie has to wear a damn suit all the time. I wouldnt mind looking at some skin." Berk tried to argue with the big-chested maid, who obviously took everything as an offence, which was also in her right.

"Uh, what about me?" Maentro tried being sneaky, using their arguing as a good excuse to try to get out of the chair.

Berk kicked the table from underneath as it flew up in the air, disappearing.

"We can not kill him here, and his powers will resume when he returns to the castle," Stella explained with a serious look at Berk.

  "Why not?"

"Because he already has enough souls, Gandrael is so weak as a historian that he barely takes up any space. If we kill this one, his mind and body can break, and all of us can die, as there is no place to take in a strong monster like this." Stella explained as a portal opened up behind Maentro.

The moment was here for Maentro; it knew that, returning in full power to the real world, it could just end Berk's life with ease, and all the demon souls and everything inside would get destroyed. A huge reward awaited him, and his ranking among the other demons would rise several levels. A great opportunity had arisen for Maentro.

It smiled at Berk, who walked up to Maentro and put his foot on the middle between the legs of Maentro.

"You can stop smiling now!" Berk said.

Maentro laughed at him and answered:

"Why? I am going to kill him as soon as I get back."

Berk backed away a couple of steps and leaned back and forth with his upper body like he was stretching.

"ALL OF YOU WILL DIE!" Maentro yelled at them.

Berk moved a little bit around before stopping, no laughter, no smiling.

"There is one thing you have forgotten."

"WHAT WOULD THAT BE!" Maentro yelled at them, laughing.

Berk leaned his upperbody slightly forward and whispered to Maentro:

"You have forgotten that Berk is traveling with an unhinged Psychopathic Assassin." Leaping forward and kicking the chair as Maentro flew through the portal.
