Chapter-26.1

  At the diner.

“I see,” Woon said, nodding slowly.

Arth leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.

After a short pause, Woon spoke again.

“So you want me to tag along?”

“Yes,” Arth replied without hesitation. “You’re the only one who can use magic.”

Woon tapped the counter lightly, thinking.

After discussing it for a bit, they came to a decision.

They would go to the dungeon tomorrow.

  Not to clear it.

Just to see what was inside.

The next morning, Arth and Woon left the city together.

The streets were slowly waking up—shopkeepers opening stalls, carts being rolled out, and the occasional guard patrolling the gate. The city walls gradually disappeared behind them as they walked along the dirt road toward the forest.

The path was quiet. Only the occasional bird sang from the trees nearby, and the wind rustled through the grass. Compared to the diner’s chaos yesterday, the road felt almost peaceful.

They walked side by side for a while in silence. Neither of them spoke, letting their steps carry them forward.

After a short while, Woon thought to himself, It’s been a while since I checked my status.

He slowed his steps and opened his status window.

  Woon blinked at the screen.

“…Level 5?” he muttered. He glanced at Arth. “I leveled up twice? When did that happen?”

Arth gave a small shrug. “Something good?”

“Depends how you look at it,” Woon said with a grin. “I didn’t even have to do anything.”

He scrolled to his Summoning skill briefly.

Woon’s lips curved into a small smile.

“So that’s why I’ve been leveling up,” he muttered. “Even without moving, I’m still gaining experience from my summons.”

Arth raised an eyebrow. “You really don’t need to lift a finger, do you?”

Woon chuckled softly. “Not yet. But once I increase the number of summons, the leveling speed will get even faster.”

He closed the Summoning window and then opened the Arcmage skill window to check his new spells.

“…Three new ones,” he muttered quietly, his finger hovering over the screen.

Arth glanced at him. “Want to try them?”

“Better than waiting until the dungeon,” Woon said with a small grin.

He focused on the ground beside him. With a flick of his hand, a long green vine erupted from the soil, twisting and whipping forward like a living whip. It struck a tree branch a few feet away, slicing it cleanly.

Arth raised an eyebrow. “Not bad.”

“Hmm…” Woon said, lowering the vine. “Pretty fast. Mana cost isn’t too bad either.”

Next, he raised both hands and whispered an incantation. The wind seemed to gather around his fingers. With a sharp motion, he sent a razor-thin gust cutting through a pile of fallen leaves. The leaves were sliced perfectly, scattering in a controlled pattern across the path.

  “Wow…” Arth muttered. “That’s precise.”

Finally, Woon held out his palm. A soft, glowing orb of light formed, hovering just above his hand. He threw it forward, and it floated in the air, illuminating a small stretch of the forest ahead.

“Good for exploration,” Woon said. “Looks like it doesn’t consume much mana either.”

He tested each spell carefully, making sure the motions were right and the energy flows smooth. None of the spells failed, and nothing unexpected happened.

Arth watched silently, impressed despite himself. “Better get used to them. They might come in handy soon.”

  Woon smiled faintly. “Hmm…”

The forest seemed unchanged, but there was a subtle tension in the air. Branches rustled differently, leaves shifted as if avoiding them, and the distant calls of birds were quieter than normal.

Woon noticed it but didn’t comment. Instead, he closed his Arcmage window and pocketed the display.

“Alright,” he said. “Time to see what this dungeon has in store.”

  Arth nodded.

Together, they walked deeper into the forest, towards the dungeon.
