Chapter 6 - Dungeon Bosses

Aiden had been awake all night.

He couldn't help but think about everything that had happened during the encounter in the Demon King's hall.

Realizing that the Demon King is his father.

The accusation of the theft of the relic and the fact that his older brother Aedan tried to kill him without hesitation.

Also, the unease of not knowing what kind of trouble having a sentinel would bring him.

These were things that, through so much thinking, did not let him sleep.

Aiden suddenly felt a cold chill run through his entire body. He tried to open his eyes heavily, with great difficulty, still immersed in a deep sleep.

He had the sensation that his sheets were being pulled, and he heard a voice from very, very far away.

"Young Aiden! Wake up at once!"

Before he could react, he felt a weight on his torso.

Circe had climbed on top of him, resting her knees on both sides to shake him insistently.

"Eh... but what’s happening, why so early...?" Aiden murmured without fully waking up.

Circe pulled the blanket away, uncovering his torso. Upon seeing his bare chest, she froze for an instant, her face flushing.

"So, it wasn't a dream... How cold, huh? Circe... why are you here? Let me sleep..." he murmured.

She looked away immediately, still on top of him and clearly embarrassed.

"Eh? What do you mean what am I doing? We agreed to train today. I spent a long time calling you from the door," she said with a voice tighter than usual.

Aiden shifted in bed, his mind still heavy with sleep. He had fallen asleep almost at dawn.

Even if he had been worried, in reality, that habit of falling asleep late was something he already had before coming to this world.

When he managed to open his eyes with difficulty, his vision still blurry, the first thing he felt was Circe's warmth over his body and the texture of her skin brushing against his hands.

Unconsciously, his fingers went down to her thighs; he pressed the firm, warm skin on her left thigh.

"But what is this... it’s so soft." He murmured.

Circe, noticing his hands, immediately got up from the bed and stepped back a couple of paces with a red face.

"Y-Young Aiden... it seems you are not as shy as they say." Circe said, looking at him out of the corner of her eye with her face still red and an awkward smile.

At that moment, Aiden woke up all at once as he realized the situation.

"U-uh? B-but what are you saying! It’s not that, nor should you even be here to begin with!"

He saw Circe turn her gaze away, clearly embarrassed. He also felt the heat rising to his face.

Waking up like this, with his body still heavy and his mind blank, had taken him completely by surprise.

Although in Circe's eyes, Aiden is surely just a teenager a bit younger than her.

On the other hand, Aiden actually sees Circe as a young woman. At least in his mind, he is older.

'But why am I shirtless...? Ah, I must have taken it off while sleeping, out of habit.'

Aiden took a deep breath, trying to compose himself.

Only then did Circe speak, still without looking at him directly.

  "...You are awake now, right?"

Aiden nodded. And finally went to get ready.

  ◇◇◇

Although Aiden had already left the castle after his arrival in this world, he hadn't paid much attention to its shape, but the mountain where the castle was located was as high as Mount Everest, or even higher.

They walked a bit more, almost to the edge of the mountain.

Circe took Aiden by the hand, as he was lost in his thoughts, and brought him closer to the wyvern.

"Do you want to pet my wyvern, Young Aiden?"

  "No. It’s not necessary."

Seeing Circe approach, the creature positioned itself, spreading its wings so she could mount with ease. Walking over them, Circe mounted it.

Aiden went to his wyvern and mounted it as well.

  Now both were ready.

Both wyverns rose with a leap and immediately descended at great speed, falling in a dive and piercing through the clouds. Circe couldn't help but scream with excitement.

Perhaps because it would be her first day as a sentinel.

Aiden went in the lead; although they didn't agree on it, the path was clear.

The best place they would have to train was the dungeon where they met.

When they were already in front of the dungeon, Circe was the first to enter with her wyvern.

Aiden stayed hovering over the area to make sure that no one else was actually nearby.

He scanned the area with his eyes.

There was no presence outside the dungeon.

Then he remembered how that time he couldn't detect Circe.

He thought that perhaps it was because she had some stealth ability, capable of hiding without leaving a trace.

Then he descended and entered the dungeon; he clearly noticed Circe's presence, and not only that.

He noticed how the presence of many entities belonging to the dungeon was enabled within a twenty-meter radius.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"Young Aiden, did something happen? Why did you stay outside?"

"I just wanted to check that no one was there. I don't want another sword at my neck like that time," Aiden grumbled.

  Circe bowed embarrassed before him.

"I am really very sorry about that time, Young Aiden."

"Yes, yes, it doesn't matter, I just wanted to be sure."

Aiden noticed that Circe, who was at his side, wouldn't stop smiling; her clothes had now changed, at least they were different from yesterday when they were at the castle.

He wondered if that was actually the Sentinel uniform they assigned her or if they were her clothes for training.

Though remembering how the other two sentinels he had met dressed, there was indeed a big difference.

Leonor, who at that moment wore a luxurious dress, just like Katherine, and on the other hand, Circe is quite simple in comparison.

Black leather shorts that reveal her thighs, and a kind of jacket adjusted to the body with long sleeves that resemble the sleeves of a servant's outfit.

And that slanted sheath with a short sword behind her waist. Only a few inches longer than a dagger.

The same weapon she had used to attack Aiden the day before.

In addition, Circe wears white gloves and short boots. So the only thing she exposed would be her long legs.

"Y-Young Aiden, don't keep looking at me like that, you’ll make me blush."

"Hey Circe, the girl from yesterday, at the castle entrance, is she also a sentinel?"

"Oh, you mean Helen, don't you? Mmm, she isn't a sentinel, she’s just the head of the castle's cleaning staff, but... don't let her appearance fool you, she is very strong."

  "Seriously, even more than you?"

"No. Well, she doesn't like to fight; as a child she trained with my father. At that time I couldn't beat her, but now it’s different." Circe smiled with total confidence.

"But why do you ask, Young Aiden? Do you want to recruit her? I’m enough, you know? I will take care of protecting you."

"I don't want to recruit her." He grumbled.

"Anyway, could you take care of those?"

Aiden pointed; two knights with large swords were approaching.

  [Warning]

  [Name: Soul of a Knight]

  Strength: 90

  Intelligence: 90

  Agility: 50

  Dexterity: 75

  Mana: 800

'The system reacts more in the dungeon...'

"The first monsters are quite weak."

Circe extended her left hand in the direction of the metal Knights. Five fireballs began to project around her hand. About the size of golf balls.

Then, without moving her hand, they shot off in the direction of the nearby monsters. She destroyed them completely, leaving traces of fire that didn't take long to disappear.

Then she repeated that attack twice more.

The entire area was cleared, and they advanced to the boss.

Upon arriving, Circe destroyed it with ease. She used the same attack as before, only this time she used the five spheres of fire against the boss.

The boss area was covered by the disturbed dust and fire.

"Wow, you really are very strong, Circe. It’s no wonder you won the Sentinel duels."

"It’s nothing much. Hehe, in the dungeons they are very weak up to the twentieth floor."

'She went to the twentieth; Aiden has only reached the fifth. This will be exciting. But first, there is something I want to take...'

The dust in the area cleared and Aiden advanced to where the boss had been destroyed.

He began to search with his gaze, but there was nothing.

  There wasn't a single trace.

  There was no system notification.

Aiden began to search around with his gaze, thinking that perhaps the impact moved it from its place.

  "There is nothing." Aiden murmured.

"What are you looking for, Young Aiden?"

"These golems usually drop some stones when they die, don't they?"

"That happens? I never noticed, hehe."

'So, is it because I didn't defeat it? I suppose it only works in reaction to the system.'

"It doesn't matter, let’s go to the next floor."

'Yesterday I couldn't advance a floor, I wonder what it will be like...'

"All right." Circe responded smiling, and they advanced.

When they entered the next floor, it began to light up.

  [Floors completed 1/20]

Now it was a room with a white floor, but covered with mold just like the walls.

  There were more metal Knights.

Although these were slightly stronger than those of the previous floor according to the statistics calculated by the system.

  [Name: Soul of a Knight]

  Strength: 120

  Intelligence: 90

  Agility: 70

  Dexterity: 90

  Mana: 1000

In the first part of that room, there were 4 groups in total, although each positioned in a different area.

And each group consisted of two Blood Knights, carrying swords, and three Skirmisher Knights, carrying spears.

  [Name: Skirmisher Knight]

  Strength: 110

  Intelligence: 90

  Agility: 120

  Dexterity: 100

  Mana: 1000

'Ho ho ho, now there’s more variety.' Aiden was hiding the excitement he felt, although Circe was very calm, as if for her it were something very common.

And it was normal; she already mentioned before that she has reached the twentieth floor.

"Young Aiden, do you want to handle those?" Circe smiled at him and settled by his side.

"Yes, I was planning to do so, actually."

"Now that I think about it, were you without weapons yesterday? Do you always come here like that? Up to which floor do you usually go?"

"...I’ve only reached the fifth floor."

"Are you serious? With your strength I don't think you’d have problems. This dungeon is very basic."

"Yes, I’m serious. Don't you know what they say about me? It’s all true. Now that you know, are you disappointed?"

"What... of course not. I know there must be a reason, besides I doubt that’s true. I mean, it doesn't seem that way to me at all, even now you are very calm."

'Yes, I am calm, and it is true, although not entirely. But anyway, what I came for was to train.'

Aiden didn't respond and ran to the position of the Knights. He jumped and landed in the middle of the five.

Immediately he received the attack from the spearmen, and he jumped, ending up upside down, watching as the three spears ended up interlaced beneath him.

"He is very agile." Circe murmured.

Aiden adjusted himself in the air and with a spinning kick struck the heads of two of the spearmen, sending them flying and thus making them disappear.

Putting his feet on the ground, he received the attack of sword thrusts that he avoided with ease. He placed himself behind the Knight and with both hands removed its helmet; light overflowed from the knight's neck and it fell to its knees before disappearing.

Upon receiving another thrust, he deflected it with his bare hand, causing the pressure to drive the knight's sword into the floor.

The spearman approached nimbly and attacked, but Aiden used the sword as a support to propel himself; he dodged it and then attacked them both, defeating them with ease.

While the knights' armor disappeared, Circe approached with a smile.

"Impressive, that was stupendous. You are very young but you fight better than many demons of my village. Demons usually rely on their power and neglect combat, but you have polished it very well."

'Well, it’s not like Aiden could do anything else, but I admit his body feels great. He trained very hard.'

Then they continued advancing and fighting both at once. They easily defeated the boss of floor two.

When Aiden took the stone that fell.

  The system window appeared.

[Knight's Rune obtained. Activate now. YES. NO.]

Aiden chose no and they continued. He didn't want anything to happen while Circe was with him.

Quickly they made their way through the floors, advancing floor after floor until they reached floor five.

  [Floors completed 4/20]

Aiden now had three stones because he had asked Circe to let him finish off the Bosses.

Although Circe at first was surprised that the Bosses did drop those stones and asked Aiden why they only fell when he killed them.

After they defeated the sixth boss, Circe asked curiously.

  [Floors completed 6/20]

"Young Aiden, why do you collect those stones? Do they have some value?"

"No, nothing like that, they just seem interesting to study to me."

"Humm... well." Circe murmured and asked no more questions.

As time passed, they had already reached floor ten. Although the monsters were indeed stronger, and from floor six they were capable of casting magic and archers also appeared.

For them it didn't represent a problem. Although had he been alone, it would have been more complicated for Aiden to finish them all off if he didn't count on the help of Circe's long-range attacks.

  [Floors completed 9/20]

Aiden now had eight stones. Although Circe had seen them when he picked them up. Because he took them quickly, she didn't manage to see that each one had something written on it.

When they finished floor ten, they decided to stop there, and met at the entrance. Then they went back to the castle again.

  [Floors completed 10/20]

Aiden took out the stones to observe them a bit and Circe curiously asked him to let her see them.

He hesitated a bit, but when he was going to show them to her.

  They simply crumbled and disappeared.

  "WHAT?!" They both shouted.

"But what happened?" Circe asked with disappointment; she couldn't see them.

'Tsk, do they not work outside the dungeon or do they have a duration limit?'

  "We must return tomorrow!"
