Long ago, humans fled east. In their desperate pursuit of preservation they lost much. History that once spanned millennia had been severed short to a few fifteen hundred years. Some songs persisted, a couple folk tales here and there. Ones about others close to but still unlike humans. The long-lived Elves, the stout dwarves, and the spirits that fostered Nature around. countless other such tales were forgotten. Dawkin, the "commoner" royal, due to an unfortunate series of deaths recently became the next heir of the land. Still young and unsuited for the role, he prepared as much as he could and faster than he should. So myth called him back, fate dealt him a few cards, and destiny flung him through and far across the sea.
