Killing and Saving (Part 1)

Qing Chen had never felt so miserable before, being hunted down by twelve mysterious people with unknown backgrounds, and it was actually so hard to shake them off!

She was a mysterious and formidable assassin, feared by all who knew of her. Anyone marked for death by her would be consumed by fear, awaiting their demise. However, she recently failed to assassinate a man named Sun Wanlin, and the authorities brought in an expert who could match her skills. Moreover, the armed personnel hiding around them opened fire indiscriminately, hoping to bury both the expert and her together. She managed to escape with injuries but was severely wounded by another incredibly skilled fighter who appeared out of nowhere. Fortunately, a man named Xiao Bai saved her and took her home to recover from her wounds.

Her wound had healed, and Xiao Bai was also leaving for a distant place, so she bid farewell with some reluctance. She returned to the place where she was injured, retrieved the seven-foot purple gold spear that was inserted into the rocks, and at that time, she realized that there were still people at the foot of the mountain, but she didn't pay much attention to it. She had fully recovered, and as long as she wasn't surrounded by a strong enemy like last time, no one could stop her, with her speed and agility, others couldn't even see her shadow. However, Qing Chen soon discovered that she was wrong again, and the cost of this mistake was very severe!

She had just picked up the purple gold gun and left the woods when she was intercepted head-on. There were six people in front of her, forming a fan shape to surround her from a distance. As soon as she appeared, they immediately opened fire. The gunfire was very weak and short, obviously equipped with a silencer, and the extremely accurate short bursts of fire made it clear that the opponent was not afraid to expose himself. Qingchen couldn't believe that at such a fast speed, the opponent could see her position clearly and aim at her. But the opponent seemed to know her position without even looking, and the crossfire shot towards her as she was about to move forward.

Qing Chen sensed the danger before the gunshot sounded, because the bullet came faster than the sound. Her figure in mid-air almost didn't stop before suddenly reversing direction and flying backward. The six marksmen's first round of shots missed, but the subsequent bullets seemed to have eyes, chasing Qing Chen's figure and firing continuously. Qing Chen was now certain that her opponent wasn't aiming and shooting in a normal way, nor were they an ordinary sharpshooter.

Qing Chen didn't turn around, instead he retreated while swinging his 2-meter-long spear. The purple-golden spear handle was like a swirling cloud, and the strong winds within a 3-meter radius were so intense that it was almost impossible to see his figure clearly. It's hard to describe just how powerful the wind generated by the spear's swing was - even the trajectory of nearby bullets was distorted, and they whizzed past Qing Chen's body without hitting him. Several bullets shot at him from the front, their trajectories slightly curved, all hitting the spear handle and bouncing off, with tiny sparks flashing in the dusk light.

Qingchen was about to reach the top of the mountain, and as soon as she crossed over, she could shake off her pursuer. Just as she was about to cross the mountain, Qingchen suddenly turned around in mid-air, and the Zi Jin spear shot out a large flower-like shape with a sharp breaking sound, stabbing straight forward. She didn't pay attention to the gunman behind her, because six more people suddenly appeared at the top of the mountain.

The six figures emerged in unison, rising from the dust at the same time. The shooters on the opposite mountain slope immediately stopped firing because the dust was right between the two groups. On top of the mountain, the six people were clearly visible, all wearing gray uniforms with dark stripes, and they were all in their early twenties. They stood in a strange formation, with one man and one woman standing side by side in the middle, empty-handed, muttering to themselves, it was unclear whether they were reciting scriptures or singing songs.

The four men in front stood in a triangular formation, shielding the two behind them. Each held a silver long sword with an unusual shape, unlike traditional Eastern swords. The sword had a single-edged blade and a slanted tip, similar to a knife. At first glance, it resembled the dwarven battle knives of the AV Islands. Their movements were also different from the light and agile thrusts of traditional Eastern swordsmanship, instead using powerful slashing motions accompanied by the sound of wind. Qingchen was an expert in this field and sensed that these were likely techniques used by knights for charging battles on horseback.

The dust settles, unchanged amidst the turmoil, still a long spear piercing the air with its sharp edge! The four men had clearly undergone special rigorous training, under the wind of the gun they didn't change color or retreat but instead advanced, the two on the left stepped out with their right foot and the two on the right stepped out with their left foot, taking half a step forward in the most stable posture to swing their swords towards the spear flowers in the air. The slender silver sword emitted a white light like a thin membrane, intersecting and blocking the spear flowers in mid-air. This strike was incredibly powerful, the four men simultaneously let out a muffled hum as they retreated two steps, although retreating their footsteps and formation remained unbroken.

Although Qingchen was standing upwind, the previous blow had been blocked. The white light emitted from the opponent's sword was very unusual! Qingchen knew that some skilled swordsmen could emit a sword aura with their inner energy to injure people without touching them, and the gun flower virtual shadow he shook out also contained an intangible yet seemingly tangible power. However, the thin white light on the swords of those four men was clearly not the sword aura emitted by skilled swordsmen, similar yet different, Qingchen felt that it was a kind of pure and firm explosive power.

With the surge of power, Qingchen's figure spun in mid-air and struck again with a swift and powerful blow, identical to the previous one. Although his earlier attack was blocked, he judged that this strike would force his opponents back, based on their retreating footsteps. As long as he could push them back, cross over the mountain, he would be temporarily safe!

However, just as this spear was about to be thrust out, Qingchen felt his wrist sink, and the Purple Gold Spear in his hand suddenly became several times heavier! This spear is made of special materials, with both the spearhead and the spear body made of Jīn Wū Xuān Mù (Golden Black Mystery Wood), which is originally heavier than Qingchen's slender physique. But when Qingchen wielded the long spear, the heavy Purple Gold Spear became as light as a feather, so why did it suddenly become sluggish? Qingchen soon discovered that it was not the spear that had become heavy, but rather the surrounding air had become thick and almost solid, wrapping itself around him, making his movements slow and heavy.

There were even more terrifying changes, Qing Chen felt her body suddenly turn cold and numb for no reason, and the motion of swinging her spear straight forward couldn't help but pause in mid-air. Now it seemed like she wasn't swinging her spear straight forward, but rather being carried by the inertia of this heavy long spear flying towards the opponent, while the four swordsmen opposite her had already raised their silver long swords that shone with white light and were waiting for her. In this instant, Qing Chen's intuition discovered that all the strange changes came from the one man and one woman who hadn't made a move in the opponent's formation. Those two people had been standing there muttering to themselves earlier, and now they finally launched their eerie attack.

Qing Chen had heard that there was a high-ranking cultivator in the world who possessed an extraordinary technique that surpassed imagination, and his own skills were not simply "martial arts", but to some extent, also similar to "Tao". She was confident that with her own abilities, even if she encountered ordinary cultivators, she could handle them with ease. Of course, this did not include the mysterious man she had met at the foot of the mountain two months ago, who had knocked out Xiaobai with a single strand of silk. That person was too powerful, and it was estimated that there were only a few people in the world who could be his match!

However, the man and woman in front of them, from their posture and aura, Qingchen could feel that they were actually very weak, not at all like accomplished cultivators who had achieved a high level of mastery. But the attacks they launched were similar to divine magic yet not quite, she had never heard of anyone casting spells by standing there reciting an incantation first, wasn't that just asking for death? In normal times, even if they launched an attack, Qingchen wouldn't be afraid, her movements wouldn't be completely affected as long as she flew out with her spear and was sure to pierce the two of them like a sugar gourd. If she didn't want to kill anyone, she could just stomp one foot in between the two of them and shock them so badly they would roll down the mountain.

But now it's not possible, the task of the four swordsmen in front of the man and woman is not only to attack Qingchen, but also to protect the two spellcasters behind them. The seemingly weakest two opponents are now posing the greatest threat to her. Qingchen was shocked in her heart, but her movements did not hesitate at all, she let out a soft cry in mid-air, exerted force and drew back her gun, spinning out a purple-golden light, and actually broke free from the entanglement of the surrounding air magic. Her body also suddenly stopped in mid-air, using the heavy pressure from earlier to quickly fall to the ground.

Qingchen knew that as soon as he landed, leaving the shooting trajectory angle between the gunman and the swordsman, the speedy gunman on the distant mountain slope would open fire. Qingchen didn't have a grasp on dealing with both the enemy on top of the mountain and the incoming bullets from behind, and if he wasn't careful, he could lose his life. The mountain slope where the gunman was located was over 500 meters away from this small mountain peak, and from the time the gun was fired to when the bullet arrived, there was only about half a second's worth of time, which was all Qingchen had to get out of this predicament!

She didn't hesitate, biting her tongue and letting out a loud cry, snapping out of the numb and dizzy feeling. As she landed, she flipped the spear over, using the shaft as a club, swinging it in a wide arc towards the front. The purple-golden shaft seemed to emit a faint dark glow, with a fierce gust of wind pressing down on everything within several meters. When the dust settled, the shaft had struck the ground, and on top of the small hill, a burst of sand and rocks exploded, this strike using all her strength, anyone in front of where the spear shaft came crashing down would be turned into mush!

I spent all last night thoroughly revising the previous article as required, and got up early this morning to continue updating and rushing for the rankings. It's tiring, but seeing the enthusiastic support of so many book friends' recommendations and collections is satisfying, it was worth it!
