It’s time to take King Admaris down, we can’t let anything slip from us. If we don’t do it now, we are fucked.
“We should enter now Hikaru”- I listened to Hana and I opened the door with my shadow tendrils. I formed a shield around us with them to protect us from incoming projectiles.
The first steps we took into the pace we were met with heavy arrow rain, the shadow tendril shield that we had around protected us. Remember Hikaru, you don’t have to hurt the soldiers, only the king. After that, you get to return to the monster vilge safely.
“King Admaris must be in the throne room waiting for us. I am sure that there will be an ambush waiting for us in every room. They will just wear us down so that the King will have an advantage over us. We can’t let that happen can we?”- The arrow rain stopped, and the soldiers reloaded their crossbows, now it’s our chance. We sprinted to the doors in front of us. We had opened them.
We waited until the guards rushed at us.
One of them didn’t know we were hiding and rushed into the arrow fire, should I save him? Sure, let’s save this guy. I pulled the guard back with my shadow tendrils before they could be shot with an arrow. The rest of the guards rushed in and we sneaked past them into the next room.
“Sia, how many rooms until we reach the throne room?”
!3 more rooms!
Good. We arrived at the 2nd room, this time it was a library, and the bookshelves were arranged like a byrinth. Like that will slow us down. I used my shadow tendrils to climb a bookshelf. I helped Hana get up. There were some guards on the ground level but they couldn’t reach or see us.
!2 more rooms!
“These rooms can pose quite the challenge if you aren’t prepared “- I looked at Hana as we walked through the 3rd room.
The 3rd room was big with mismatching tiles all over the pce, but there were tiles of blue color that formed a pattern.
!Room analysis complete. Step only on the blue tiles, the rest will cause an explosion if touched!
We do as Sia says, we move on to the blue tiles and reach the 4th and final room. After this, we will need to face King Admaris.
The 4th room is small and cramped, well, we need to make it rger it seems. I used my shadow tendrils to cut the things that are making the room smaller, by that I mean the giant pieces of wood inside it. Or better yet I stored everything in my spatial storage.
“That was quick”- Hana looked surprised.
“We need that lumber in the monster nation. It would have been a shame to destroy it”
!I can confirm. After analysis, the lumber is very sturdy and high quality. The only downside is that it takes a lot of inventory space in the spatial storage!
“Well, it doesn’t matter now. Let’s go to the throne room”
Hana and I entered the throne room. We dodged the attacks of any incoming guards, but King Admaris was nowhere to be seen.
I heard something descending from the roof. Hana grabbed me out of the way. King Admaris jumped from the roof to attack us, kinda like a surprise attack.
“It seems like you 2 are quite perceptive in battle”- I let my shadow tendrils slither toward Admaris. He dodged out of the way. Damn it, he must have Shadow Sense, we aren’t the only ones who have a high level here.
“Hikaru, stand back. I will deal with it!”- Hana drew her Katana, and she charged at King Admaris directly, they seemed to be at a stalemate.
“Hikaru, colpse the roof for me”- I got this message from Hana via telepathy.
My shadow tendrils pierced the roof of the pace. King Admaris had to dodge the incoming rubble.
“When it’s bellow us, cut it in half”
I cut the debris in half, King Admaris dodged to the right. Hana kicked the debris in his direction. He was caught off guard.
Hana used her skill and dashed once, impaling King Admaris in his heart.
“You monsters sure know how to fight”- He fell on the floor.
“I have one st wish. You beat me in a battle fair and square. Don’t let this kingdom become ruined. And please, if it’s not too much to ask out of monsters like you. Take care of my daughter. That’s all I have to say”- King Admaris is bleeding out on the floor. What to do. Should I give him a potion that I have? Or should I let him die?
“I changed my mind, Hana”
I got a potion out of my spatial storage and gave it to King Admaris.
“Here. Promise you won’t get involved with Wieka and won’t attack or ensve monsters ever again. These are my terms”- I gave him one of the best potions I had.
12 hours ter:
The king managed to recover from his wounds, he seems like a different person. His daughter came from the little trip that he sent her. She was scared of us, she had a good reason to be scared. I didn’t want the whole Fumiko situation to repeat with her now.
“I accept your terms, Hikaru and Hana. I hereby decre that I will end monster svery and I will treat everyone like a human being”
“Thank you”- Hana left to talk with his daughter. I stayed to talk with the king.
“I never expected to say this. But, I am sorry. I am now seeing how wrong I was. I still can’t understand how a monster can be kind”
“Maybe, if you were to look at us as people instead of monsters there wouldn’t be that much of a difference. All the evil actions that monsters must do to survive are a direct reaction to the ws that are given against them. Think about it. If you were poor and had nothing to eat, no education, no job, how would you fare, the only option to survive would be crime”- He looked at me, shocked but he seemed to understand what I was saying.
“I get it. My kingdom fucked up. But thank you again. I will fully support you and the monster nation. I, Hero King Admaris acknowledge the future Demon Lords Hikaru Tanaka and Hana Tomura as allies of the Kingdom of Admaris.”- The king smiled at me, and gave me some papers.
“What are these”
“Research. Mana-powered buildings and tools created by an otherworlder. I want them to be researched in the Monster Nation. Can you do that for me?”- The king stood up and yawned.
“Sure. We would be delighted to do that!”- We shook hands and then Hana and I went to rest.
I didn’t expect things to end like this between us and King Admaris, but I think this is for the best. An ally who is alive is better than a dead one.
